John was exposed to asbestos while working as a plumber for two Merseyside contracting firms during the 1960s and 1970s. Despite the dangers of asbestos being well known at the time, John was not provided with any protective equipment by his employer.
John was suffering from breathlessness and, following a series of medical tests, was later diagnosed with asbestosis.
While the companies John worked for had ceased to exist, Thompsons Solicitors tracked down the insurers of John’s previous employers and negotiated a settlement for John with the right to claim again if his condition deteriorates or if he develops an asbestos-related cancer.
John said: “I used to be quite an active person but now I get breathless very easily. Asbestosis limits everything I do and I simply cannot enjoy my life in the same way. I can’t thank Thompsons enough."
