Crane Accident caused fatal injuries
A joint police and Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigation is taking place after a crane operator sustained fatal injuries on the 15th August.
Mr Lindsey Easton from Halifax died after a crane he was driving at a Rossendale quarry crashed.
The crane had previously been used at the Scout Moor windfarm in Enfield to replace a faulty turbine, and Mr Easton was driving it from the site.
Mr Easton was travelling along a private road which is shared by Rossendale quarry and the Scout Moor windfarm.
Crane collided with an earth bank
The eight-axel tonne crane collided with an earth bank, a section of the crane then collapsed, trapping and killing Mr Easton.
Specialist rescue crews were sent to the incident, but Mr Easton was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Samantha Hemsley, a solicitor at Thompsons Solicitors’ Serious Injuries Team said: “This was a terrible accident and my thoughts go out to Mr Easton’s family. A thorough investigation should now identify the cause of the accident.”
