A London bus driver who lost his right leg at the age of 5 but used a prosthetic limb, led a full life, and many people did not know he was an amputee. He fears he may never work again after losing his second leg in a horrific accident.

On the 8th June 2011 Ghanshyam Vaghji from Edgeware was waiting at a bus stop in Queensbury, North West London when he was struck by an out of control vehicle. A fellow pedestrian was killed at the scene, Mr Vaghji was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries.

Mr Vaghji’s leg could not be saved and he had to undergo a further amputation.

Mr Vaghji will be unable to return to his role as a bus driver and has concerns about his ability to walk in the future.

The driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Henrietta Phillips, a solicitor at Thompsons Solicitors’ Serious Injuries Team said: “Accidents involving pedestrians are all too common. The consequences of this accident for Mr Vaghji will be immense and no doubt life changing. Sadly we are pursuing a number of cases at the moment where people have been injured in very similar circumstances.”
