The personal injury solicitors, based in Harbour Avenue, Plymouth raised the cash for Help for Heroes Campaign best known for providing support to men and women wounded in battle.

The firm held its annual raffle and raised £77 for the charity. Plymouth Sutton MP Linda Gilroy also attended the event, organised by solicitor Donna Peters.

She said: “The armed forces play such a huge role in society in Plymouth and we decided to choose Help for Heroes as our charity this year to show our support for armed forces personnel based in the town.

Plymouth Sutton MP Linda Gilroy added: “I am only too pleased to have been asked to make the draw at Thompsons' recent fundraising event in support of the 'Help for Heroes' Campaign. As a member of the Defence Select Committee, I very much welcome the community involvement of organisations / companies like Thompsons Solicitors in raising money for the charity and for highlighting the brilliant job that our armed forces are doing. The 'Help for Heroes' charity is a very worthy cause which provides a wide range of services and support for those injured in recent conflicts.”
