Denis Rowley died after being diagnosed with mesothelioma
The family of an 84 year old man who succumbed to a deadly form of asbestos-related cancer are urging his former work colleagues to get in touch.
Denis Rowley who lived in Finningley, South Yorkshire died in July 2010 after being diagnosed with mesothelioma, a fatal form of cancer caused by asbestos exposure. He left behind a disabled wife, two children and grandchildren.
Denis instructed industrial disease specialist Thompsons Solicitors to investigate the case against his former employers in order to secure financial stability for his wife, Marjorie.
Employed as a maintenance joiner by T&H Hopkins in Torworth, Retford
His family believe that Denis was exposed to the toxic substance while employed as a maintenance joiner by T&H Hopkins in Torworth, Retford with his exposure taking place as recently as the late 1980’s despite the dangers of asbestos being well-known to employers since the late 1930s.
Now the family would like anyone who worked with Denis between the period 1983 to 1992 to come forward who may be able to tell the family more about Denis’s working life at T&H Hopkins.
Denis’s daughter, Denise said: “My dad was extremely worried after his diagnosis of mesothelioma about how my mum would manage following his death. It was so important to him that we tried to find out everything we could about how he was exposed to asbestos in his work place environment in order to support his case.
“If anyone has information that could help I would ask that they please come forward. Even small details about his working life could make a big difference.”

Marion Voss from Thompsons Solicitors who is investigating Mr Rowley’s case added: “Mr Rowley instructed us when he was extremely ill and unfortunately passed away before we could complete his claim. His family have decided to honour his wish to see this case through and we would now like to hear from anyone who can talk to us about what it was like to work at T&H Hopkins during the 1980s and early 1990s.”
