Did you work with John Redgell, from Basingstoke?
The family of an asbestos victim is urging his former work colleagues to come forward.
John Redgell, from Basingstoke died from mesothelioma, an asbestos related lung cancer, in April 2012 aged 89.
The former army Regimental Quarter Master Sergeant was diagnosed with the cancer of the lining of the lungs just four months earlier in December 2011. Mesothelioma is caused by exposure to asbestos and there is no known cure for the disease.
Thompsons Solicitors are investigating claim for compensation
Before his death he instructed asbestos compensation experts Thompsons Solicitors to investigate a claim.
Sadly he was extremely ill and died shortly afterwards. His family are continuing the claim on his behalf.
The widower and dad of six children, granddad to 15 and great granddad to three was in the army for 28 years before beginning work for Lancing Bagnall, a forklift truck manufacturer in Basingstoke, in 1970.
During the next 18 years he lived on Oakridge Road, Basingstoke with his family and worked as a warehouse man for the firm.
Did you work at Lancing Bagnall?
The family wish anyone who worked with John at any time to come forward to speak to Thompsons. They are interested in information about the working environment during the time he was working for Lancing Bagnall from 1970 to 1988.
John’s daughter Pat Taylor said: “My dad died very quickly after he was diagnosed with mesothelioma. We felt as a family it was important to continue to find out more about his asbestos exposure . We want to trace the people who worked alongside my dad to find out more about his working conditions.”
Marion Voss of Thompsons Solicitors said: “It is important we build up an accurate and detailed account of Mr Regdell’s working environment at Lancing Bagnall. We would like to speak to anyone who worked alongside him so we can establish a clear picture of the conditions he worked in.”
Anyone with information should contact Marion Voss on 08000 224 224 or email enquiries@thompsons.law.co.uk.
Asbestos disease diagnosis? Talk to us for advice and support on how to secure compensation.
If you or a loved one have been diagnosed with an asbestos-related disease, we can support you with advice on how to make a claim.
The process will be explained in plain English and with no obligation – our priority is to provide you with the best, expert advice on whether you have a valid case for compensation, and to signpost you to further sources of support.
There are strict time limits applied to making a claim – usually three years from the date of diagnosis. It doesn’t matter if the exposure to asbestos took place – as it often does – decades ago, the three year time limit applies to the date of knowledge of diagnosis or date of death.
