The asbestos teams are raising money for Mesothelioma UK
Thompsons Solicitors’ asbestos disease lawyers and mesothelioma solicitors will be taking part in a number of fitness challenges over the coming months to raise money for Mesothelioma UK.
Move for Meso encourages supporters to get active, on any level, in the run up to September, and team Thompsons has definitely got the bit between their teeth.
Nicola Harrison, regional manager for Yorkshire and Humberside, is training for the Robin Hood Half Marathon, which takes place on 26 September 2021 in Nottingham.
Beth Liddle from the Newcastle office – an area heavily impacted by asbestos diseases - is walking three Wainwright walks and has already completed Scafell Pike.
Meanwhile, despite being in recovery from a broken ankle, Cheryl Boyd in Liverpool is tentatively putting her walking boots on to raise funds for the charity, alongside other colleagues in Wales and the South West.
Tony Hood, head of asbestos strategy at Thompsons, said: “Mesothelioma UK is reliant on donations to maintain its excellent support for those living with asbestos, and the families who have been devastated by an asbestos diagnosis. Working as closely as we do with asbestos support charities across the UK we have seen first-hand how COVID-19 has meant fundraising efforts have come to a halt, but it’s been impressive to see our team get active virtually to raise money for such a worthy cause.
“I’m proud of everyone who is taking part in the events and look forward to seeing us raise as much as possible.”
Mesothelioma UK is a free, specialist service which aims to raise awareness and provide vital support to individuals and families affected by the disease. The charity ensures that specialist mesothelioma nursing is available for those who need it, by integrating into NHS front line services.
Thompsons Solicitors is one of only a handful of law firms across the country on Mesothelioma UK’s legal panel in recognition of its significant expertise in fighting for the rights of asbestos victims.

Asbestos disease diagnosis? Talk to us for advice and support on how to secure compensation.
If you or a loved one have been diagnosed with an asbestos-related disease, we can support you with advice on how to make a claim.
The process will be explained in plain English and with no obligation – our priority is to provide you with the best, expert advice on whether you have a valid case for compensation, and to signpost you to further sources of support.
There are strict time limits applied to making a claim – usually three years from the date of diagnosis. It doesn’t matter if the exposure to asbestos took place – as it often does – decades ago, the three year time limit applies to the date of knowledge of diagnosis or date of death.
