Everyone at Thompsons Solicitors is thrilled that Amy Marren has been selected to represent her country in the 2012 Paralympics in London.
Amy who is still only 13 years old was born with her right hand missing at just past the wrist-level but was swimming at the age of four. She has excelled in her chosen sport and recently broke the 800m freestyle British paralympic record for her age, with a time of 10.14.32 (the record was previously 11.23.24) which is a fantastic achievement. As well as this, Amy holds the 200m Backstroke British paralympic record as well.
Through our work helping people with catastrophic and serious injuries caused by the negligence of others to claim compensation, we know how much a disability can affect an injured person and their family. Amy is a fabulous example of how someone can excel even when faced with adversity.
Sponsored by Thompsons Solicitors
Thompsons have sponsored Amy while she strived to achieve her Paralympic place with our sponsorship helping to buy specialist equipment and pay for transport costs to numerous competitions and training camps.
Gwen Kirby-Dent from Thompsons Solicitors’ Serious Injury Team said “We are so proud to sponsor Amy, her drive is phenomenal and we know that she will continue to improve whilst working (incredibly!) hard in the run up to the Paralympics. We are glad if our sponsorship has played some role in helping her to achieve her goals. We wish her the very best of luck in London 2012, we will be rooting for her.”
