Raising Funds for Breast Friends Charity
Breast Friends has been registered as a charity for over 10 years. One of the unique ways they have of raising funds to assist them in their invaluable work is to run a bra recycling scheme. Women are invited to donate their unwanted but still wearable bras and, in conjunction with a local recycling firm, they are sold onto traders in developing countries. This allows the women in those countries to have access to affordable items of clothing that they may never otherwise have and in return Breast Friends receives a payment.
Thompsons Solicitors’ Birmingham office are currently supporting the charity by placing a bra collection bank in the office and inviting staff to donate any unwanted bras.
Members of the public can donate any unwanted bras at ‘bra banks’ at Four Oaks Railway Station, Sutton Coldfield, Sainsbury’s Supermarket, Castle Vale Retail Park, and Lidl Supermarket, Kings Road, Birmingham. There are also some ‘mini bra banks’ in a selection of local GP’s surgeries.
Linda Millband, a solicitor in Thompsons’ Clinical Negligence Unit in Birmingham said “Thompsons are proud to be supporting such a worthwhile charity. The support provided by Breast Friends to local women diagnosed with breast cancer is invaluable.”
