Having started his legal career with the Crown Prosecution Service, Toby joined Thompsons Solicitors in 2006 as a law costs administrator. After several years’ experience with the costs team, Toby undertook a three-year professional qualification and qualified as a costs lawyer in 2013. Toby has since become a senior costs lawyer and is team supervisor for the London costs team.
Toby has a varied caseload, with a particular specialism in clinical negligence, serious injury and solicitor and client and group litigation costs.
Toby has assisted and advised in various high-profile matters including blacklisting litigation, claims involving the negligent surgeon Ian Paterson and the Grenfell Public Inquiry, as well as claims in relation to success fee deductions.
Toby regularly attends costs and case management conferences.
Away from work, Toby takes a keen interest in issues relating to equality, diversity and inclusivity, is a member of a running club and marshals races within his local community.
