Sarah Kennerley-Fawcett is a senior solicitor at Thompsons and is based in the Nottingham office, managing asbestos-related disease claims from across the East Midlands.
Sarah Qualified in 2004 following her training contract with Thompsons. She deals with all aspects of Personal Injury, asbestos disease, industrial disease and civil litigation and covers all types of injuries.
Her main role is to run cases efficiently whilst maintaining high client care and ensuring the best outcome for a client. Ensuring that anyone who has suffered from unlawful exposure to asbestos or a serious injury through no fault of their own is fully supported throughout the legal process.
For Sarah, the most rewarding aspect of working for the Thompsons is obtaining compensation and supporting families and victims in asbestos disease cases.
In her spare time, Sarah enjoys spending time with her family, holidaying, keeping fit, socialising with friends and being a member of the School PTA.
Sarah's case experience
Sarah has recently settled several complex multi-defendant cases. One case involved 11 defendants, and the other had six.
In both cases, Sarah had to restore several companies to the Company House Register to issue court proceedings against them. This complex process required a high degree of legal knowledge to ensure the correct procedure was undertaken and that the claimant was fully legally protected.
A high degree of negotiation skill was also needed to ensure settlement against such a high number of defendants.
Sarah has one case whereby the Chief Coroner refused a post-mortem on one of her fatal mesothelioma cases. Sarah knew that without a post-mortem being undertaken, she would struggle to achieve compensation for the claimant’s family.
With the agreement of the family, Sarah persisted with the Coroner, who refused her request on several occasions until finally, the Coroner agreed to undertake a post-mortem. The post-mortem findings fully supported the claim, ensuring that she obtained compensation for his family per his final wishes.
