Sophia Law is a medical negligence lawyer based at Thompsons’ Nottingham office where she works alongside the medical negligence solicitors team dealing with cases from across the East Midlands. Before joining Thompsons, Sophie worked at law centres in Sheffield and Derby advising on legal issues as diverse as employment, housing, benefits and immigration.

Sophia has more than six years’ experience handling a wide variety of clinical negligence cases, including orthopaedic injuries (fractures, tendon damage and surgical errors), gynaecological injuries (perinatal tears, hysterectomy and ovarian cysts), and delayed cancer diagnosis cases for lung, breast and skin cancer. Sophie has also helped clients after perinatal death and runs general surgery cases, including appendicitis and bowel damage.

For Sophia, the most rewarding aspect of her job is knowing that the compensation secured for clients can make a huge difference in their lives and help them better cope with the traumatic ordeal they have been through.

In her spare time, Sophia enjoys travelling, baking and escape rooms.

 

Sophia's case experience

  • Secured £22,500 in compensation for a client who was left with permanent numbness on the left side of her tongue after a 10-month delay to repair a nerve that was damaged during a wisdom tooth removal.
  • Secured a settlement of £10,000 for a client who was misdiagnosed with a torn ligament and discharged from hospital when he was, in fact, suffering from a shoulder dislocation.
