Based in Thompsons’ London office, as part of the national clinical negligence team, Lisa represents adults and children who have been the victims of negligent care. Lisa’s specialism is in the most complex cases, including birth injury, brain, nerve and spinal injuries, misdiagnosis and late diagnosis of cancer. She has recovered tens of millions of pounds in compensation for those injured or the families of those who have lost a loved one in the NHS or private health sector.
With over 17 years of experience, Lisa has acted in cases of cauda equina syndrome, gynaecological mistakes, cosmetic surgery, GP negligence, and drug and prescription errors. She has acted for those injured in severe workplace accidents and those who have suffered catastrophic and life-changing injuries through road traffic accidents.

Clinical negligence: Lisa secured a significant settlement for a client who was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Postnatal Depression, which affected her capacity to work following a traumatic birth.

Lisa also secured a £900,000 settlement at a joint settlement meeting for a client who sustained a brain injury and failed kidney transplant due to allegedly negligent anaesthetic care, in a case where liability was denied.

Accident at work: A railway worker was seriously injured when he was crushed against the side of a platform by a train. He suffered devastating pelvic, orthopaedic and urological injuries, requiring extensive surgery. He continues to suffer pain and mobility problems, is very disabled, and his future earning capacity is limited.
Lisa established negligence and breach of health and safety at work regulations. The case settled for over £1million.

Traumatic brain injury: In addition to a traumatic brain injury, Lisa’s client was left with serious injuries to his skull and eye and psychiatric injuries. The case settled for over £520,000, part of which was an interim payment.

A settlement of £130,000 for a client whose head injury resulted in headaches, dizziness, poor balance, nausea, memory and concentration problems, as well as other complications.

Road traffic collision: £140,000 for a client who sustained serious crush injuries to her leg as well as head injuries. The client thanked Lisa “for all the help given during this very trying time”.

A client involved in a road traffic collision also suffered because her subsequent hospital treatment fell below an acceptable standard. Claims were brought against both the other driver and the hospital. There were allegations of contributory negligence and fundamental dishonesty. However, Lisa’s determination and negotiation skills led to this complex matter, settling for a six-figure sum.

Injury caused by an animal: Lisa’s client fell off his bike and sustained a brain injury after a dog collided with him. In this multi-layered case, liability was eventually agreed and the claim was settled.
