Amanda Jones is a partner of Thompsons Solicitors and a highly respected solicitor specialising in asbestos-related diseases.
Having joined Thompsons in 2004, Amanda works between the Cardiff and Llanelli offices, but mainly the latter. She represents clients from all over Wales and the South West, most of whom are suffering from mesothelioma, an invariably fatal condition resulting from exposure to asbestos, often decades previously.
Apart from taking her own caseload, Amanda also supervises the work of other lawyers in Bristol, Cardiff and Llanelli. Amanda not only represents men who have held industrial jobs, but many women who have contracted mesothelioma by handling the working clothes of family members.
Many of the claims are highly complex, especially in cases where the companies concerned no long exist. However Amanda has a UK-wide reputation for tracking down defendants and winning the compensation her clients deserve in a timely manner.
A key element of her job is keeping in close personal contact with the client who has been diagnosed with the disease, but also with family members. She makes a point of keeping them informed about the progress of their claims and speaking to them in plain English, rather than legal jargon. Amanda understands the paramount importance of treating them with respect and compassion during a period of high stress.
Amanda’s expertise is renowned beyond the legal profession and she has been a guest speaker at annual training sessions for senior doctors in Wales. She is a supporter of Mesothelioma UK, Asbestos Awareness & Support Cymru and South West Asbestos Support and Guidance.
Outside work Amanda spends most of her spare time at the side of a football or rugby pitch supporting her sons who are keen athletes. She is also a governor of Coedcae Comprehensive School in Llanelli.
Amanda was shortlisted for 'Claimant Lawyer of the Year' in the 13th Personal Injury Awards by Claims Media.
